February 21-27



READING: Lost City The Discovery of Machu Picchu

 This week we are reading “Lost City: The Discovery of Machu Picchu” by Ted Lewin.  We will focus on some vocabulary words in this story.  It would be helpful if you will reinforce the meaning of these words at home with your child.  Also, on this post you will find our spelling words for the week.  Please practice these words at home as well.  The words in italics are our challenge spelling words.  Let’s have a great week!

 MATH:

We are working on Fraction Basics -- Multiples, Factors, Prime & Composites, understanding how fractions are parts of a whole, and equivalency. This is an ESSENTIAL skill for future math understanding (Algebra) and builds on multiplication fluency. Continue practice math facts with your child.

 

SOCIAL STUDIES:

Our African American Research project is coming along. The paper and poster are due February 26. The school wide Black History Celebration and open house is on the 28th.  

The Fresh Beat ensemble and ALL students will be performing a musical special.
