Non Fiction Focus

Bring MAGAZINES and NEWSPAPERS!! We are focusing on non-fiction for this 9 weeks.  Our weekly stories will also be real text. This is a weak are for our students. Read the newspaper at night with them OR check out the ZITE app. It is a personalized app where your student can read news from stories that interest them. We will add ZITE to our Ipads when they come in!

MATH:

We are focusing on Division, now. A good math student KNOWS their multiplication facts. This base is essential for ALL math! PRACTICE these at home!

READING:

 This week we are reading “Antarctic Journal” by Jennifer Owings Dewey.  We will focus on some vocabulary words in this story.  It would be helpful if you will reinforce the meaning of these words at home with your child.  Also, on this post you will find our spelling words for the week.  Please practice these words at home as well.  The words in italics are our challenge spelling words.  Let’s have a great week!

SOCIAL STUDIES:
Still focusing on the Native American's of Alabama. Your student will soon receive an individual project assignment. I will send home a note as soon as possible. These projects will be for our exhibit.
