Christ"math" Shopping

The students loved "spending" their $1000.00 as they bought mock gifts today in math. Figuring the tax proved a small challenge but they did awesome!

We enjoyed our visit to the center's: "A Tribute to our Military." How very blessed we are to have such a resource in our home of Walker County! Thank you WACF for this opportunity.

Today's exploratory offered a chance to win real Duck Dynasty duck calls. Of course, two of my boys won! They were so excited! These kids love DD & I appreciate their positive message for my students!!!

WJ Charter Beta Club Members

Today we honored the first ever National Junior Beta Club inductees. We are proud of these fifth graders for meeting the rigorous standards of Beta! 

Happy Halloween!

We love Halloween at WJS! As a fund raiser, the students pay $1 and get to dress up. 🎃👻

 Our day included science:"Your Skelton is Alive!", math: Spooky Word Problems & Expressions, reading: "The History of Jack-o-lanterns", and a bone scavenger hunt!! What a great day!

Balloon Release- Pink Party

The students of WJES release balloons as a culmination of fund raising efforts for the Susan G Komen foundation in honor of breast cancer victims.

Pink'ed Out

In honor and memory of all breast cancer victims, the students purchased balloons and released them today.

Baggie Chemisty

Today we explored chemical changes and collected data as we added substances. Chemical changes are evidenced by: color/temperature change and/or gas/solid formation. The students enjoyed the experiments.

SGA Elections

These two girls, along with Curtis C. are running for senator in our homeroom. Because they were first to apply, they spoke on WJS-TV this morning.

Flight Competition

Mechanical energy through flight! We competed in a flying tournament today and the winner in Mrs. Evans' room was Tyler W. & winners in Ms. Simon's room were Brodie V and Justin A.  Congrats!!

Seeds in the ground!

Thanks to a grant and Mrs. Chesser's initiative we have garden beds beside our playground! Today our class planted radishes, carrots, and broccoli. We will harvest our veggies soon and hope to create a classroom salad for lunch. We are excited about our plot of food and hope we have green thumbs.

Next Week...

This has been a great two weeks and we are looking forward to the next week! We will be finishing decimals and science Variables with AMSTI. Excited about our new focus! Hope you all had a super weekend and Roll Tide!

Safety Patrol Induction

The fifth graders were inducted into the safety patrol today! The welcome was offered by student leaders: Curtis & Brodie. Daishay read the invocation and Kyniah led the pledge. I am proud of our student leaders!
